Permits & Rules in Onewhero

Waikato District Council
Awaiting Review
When do I need a permit?

An approved non-excavation Corridor Access Request and resulting Works Access Permit are required before a skip bin is placed on a public roadside, grass berm, footpath or another part of the Waikato District road corridor. Depending on the location and risks, the council may also require a Traffic Management Plan, site-specific risk assessment or other safety documentation. Pedestrian routes must remain unobstructed, with appropriate accessible clearance, and bins must not damage berms, footpaths or road-corridor assets. Roadside bins left overnight require fencing and prominent reflective or fluorescent visibility markings. Private-property placement is preferred and can avoid the road-corridor process. Delivery cannot occur on public property until the required council approval has been issued.
