When do I need a permit?

Council approval is required when a skip bin occupies public property in Tauranga, including a road, parking space, grass berm, footpath area or another part of the road reserve. A Parking Space Permit or Road Reserve Occupation Permit applies, while a full Corridor Access Request is required where the placement encroaches on or blocks a footpath or cycle lane or otherwise alters normal road-corridor operations. A professional Traffic Management Plan is required where traffic or pedestrian conditions change. Road-corridor bins require safety fencing, cones and reflective visibility measures and must remain clear of underground assets.
