When do I need a permit?

A non-excavation Corridor Access Request and resulting Works Access Permit are required before a skip bin is placed on a public roadside, grass berm, footpath or another part of the Matamata-Piako District road reserve. Depending on the placement, the CAR may also need an appropriate Traffic Management Plan following the council's current temporary-traffic-management approach. Public footpaths cannot be completely blocked, safe pedestrian passage must be maintained, and hydrants, stormwater catchpits, water meters and utility access lids must remain accessible. Roadside or berm bins left overnight require reflective hazard markings or cones. Private-property placement is preferred where adequate access exists. The bin cannot be delivered onto public space until written approval has been issued.
