Permits & Rules in Kapiti Coast District

Kāpiti Coast District Council
Awaiting Review
When do I need a permit?

A skip bin placed within the Kāpiti Coast road reserve may require a Corridor Access Request and Works Access Permit, a Traffic Management Plan or another council approval depending on its location and effects. Public footpaths cannot be completely blocked and safe access must remain available for pedestrians, mobility scooters and prams. Bins must preserve access to hydrants, water valves, stormwater grates and utility covers and must not create visibility hazards near driveways or intersections. Berm placements may require measures to protect grass and underground services, while roadside bins require reflective markings or cones for night-time visibility. Private-property placement is preferred. Placements affecting state highways require confirmation and approval from NZTA Waka Kotahi.
